Highway 101, approximately halfway between the SF Bay Area and

Oregon border. It is 15 miles inland, 26 miles by road (45
minutes)
from the Pacific Ocean.
The nearest airports are located in Santa Rosa and Eureka/Arcata, though local residents generally prefer to use Sacramento, San Francisco, or Oakland International Airports. Eureka and San Francisco airports may be subject to flight delays due to fog during the summer months..

Climate
The climate is mild, marked by
extended periods of clear, dry, sunny weather in the summer months, and
cool rainy weather in the winter months. Snowfall and freezing weather
are rare because of proximity to the ocean, although the surrounding
mountains
are occasionally snowcapped.
Economy
Mendocino County is a scenic
rural
county. The main industries are timber, agriculture, ranching, fishing
and tourism. Laytonville is a small, rural community which is the
center
of population for about 6,500 people. Approximately 2,000 people live
in
the immediate vicinity (15 minutes driving time) of Laytonville.
