James D. Stewart, Ph.D.

Executive Director and CEO

James D. Stewart, Ph.D., is the Executive Director and CEO of Long Valley Health Center in Laytonville. He grew up in Mississippi and spent time there as a college Professor and public health leader, ultimately serving as Director of Communicable Disease for the Mississippi State Health Department. James has run large HIV programs in Mississippi and Colorado. He has extensive experience in rural health, pandemic response, and community outreach. James holds a Ph.D. from Louisiana State University and an MBA from Millsaps College. He lives in Mendocino County with his wife and son. James plays the bass, has pug dogs, and grows orchids.
