Family Nurse Practioner

Janet K. Byrd, FNP-C brings over 11 years as a Family Nurse Practitioner and more than twenty years of nursing experience to her practice at LVHC. Janet moved to Laytonville from Sonoma, California with her partner and five dogs.

In her free time, she likes to play with her dogs, camp and spend time on the coast. She graduated with her FNP from UNLV in 2014 and has worked most of her career at a FQHC. Janet values taking time to get to know her patients, and believes that strong, trusting relationships are the foundation of good healthcare. Janet enjoys caring for individuals and families across the lifespan, and works closely with patients to support their health goals at every stage of life.

Her clinical focus includes preventive care, managing chronic health conditions, and helping patients understand their treatment options so they can make informed decision about their care. Janet is especially passionate about patient and family education and believes that when people feel informed and supported, they are better able to take an active role in their health.

In addition to her clinical experience, Janet has experience as an educator and administrator in higher education. She enjoys collaborating with interdisciplinary care teams and mentoring students and new clinicians, helping to create a supportive learning environment while maintaining high standards of care. Her approach is grounded in compassion, collaboration, and a strong commitment to providing accessible, high quality healthcare for the community she serves.
